On the occasion of the World Parkinson’s Day, the Greek Carers Network Epioni successfully organized on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, the informative event “Living with Parkinson’s, from diagnosis to treatment”.

The event focused on the need for patients and their families to have access to more and better health services.

The April 4, 2023 webinar was held with the support of the Laboratory of Hygiene and Epidemiology, Department of Public and Community Health, University of West Attica.

Through short interventions, experts referred to Parkinson’s disease as well as to the daily life and treatment of people with this disease.

Ms. Anastasia Tsigotzidou, Associate Professor of Anatomy, Department of Veterinary Medicine, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, will present the contribution of laboratory animals in the treatment of patients.

Afterwards, Mrs. Chrysa Chryssovitsanou, Head of the Centre for Special Neurological Diseases of the Aeginetio Hospital, spoke about the management of everyday life, giving practical advice on the management of the disease.

Mr. Antonis Papadimitriou, referred to PD Monitor technology and what science has to offer. Mr. Yannis Vasilakos, co-founder of Pronoo  talked about the Pronoo Care app for informal caregivers.

Ms. Tina A. Michaelidou, Relationship Blogger shared her experience of caring for a relative with Parkinson’s.

Ms. Eleni Markogiannaki, Life Coach, spoke about the power of connection through communication in the world of Dementia.

Finally, Mr. Zikos Kentros, Physiatrist and Director of Rehabilitation Department “Henry Dunant Hospital Center”, spoke about complementary physical therapies of the disease.

The event took place in the framework of the Erasmus+ E-Care4PD project (Exchanging good practices in e-health care for adults with Parkinson’s and their family caregivers in Europe), in which we collaborate with Parkinson Madrid, Serbian Brain Council and Belgian Brain Council.
