The Greek Carers Network, EPIONI, frequently organizes educational sessions where professionals from various fields address a diverse array of topics related to medical, legal, educational, and employment matters. These sessions are primarily designed to assist and enlighten the public, especially focusing on informal caregivers.

On Friday 6.10.2023, on the occasion of the European Day of the Caregiver, an event was successfully held at the Metropolitan College (42 Akadimias Street, Athens) on the topic: The balance between personal, professional and caring life for informal carers.

The event was welcomed on behalf of the Secretary General of Social Solidarity & Poverty Alleviation, Mr. K.P.. Mrs. Panagiota Manou, Head of the Directorate of Policies for Persons with Disabilities – Ministry of Social Cohesion & Family. The event hosted notable speakers, such as Anna Bibou, Professor of Clinical Psychology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Svetlana Atanasova from the European Eurocarers Federation.

The conference was attended by Dr. Stella Stathoulopoulou, a psychiatrist with international experience in neurodevelopmental disorders, who spoke about caregiver burnout.

Mr. Nikos Drossos, Assistant Professor of Professional Counselling, European University of Cyprus and Treasurer of PEPSAEE, presented the training and empowerment programme for mental health professionals, mental health service recipients and their informal caregivers using the “Recovery “PROSPECT” methodology in Greece.

Evangelia Zioga, MSc, Nutritionist – Biochemist, Researcher at Prolepsis Institute presented the DIGITALIS training programme on empowering informal caregivers in the daily use of digital healthcare services. Finally, Ms Katerina Michou and Ms Eva Vaiouli on behalf of AKMI International presented the new training programme Eldicare 2.0

Finally, Sociologist – Gerontologist Dr. Elizabeth Mesthenaou, member of the Board of 50+ Hellas, informed us about the educational platform for caregivers: http://www.careplatform.gr/
