The Greek Carers Network EPIONI is a non-profit association founded in 2017. It seeks to enhance the recognition of informal care provided by relatives or friends of individuals with chronic illnesses or disabilities. Additionally, it aims to represent and advocate for caregivers and former caregivers, regardless of age or specific needs.<\/strong><\/div>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/span>The main objectives, according to the statute<\/a>, include:<\/strong><\/div>\n
\u00a01. Contributing to the development of policies at the national and European levels.<\/div>\n
\n

\u00a02. Providing mutual support, education, and information to informal caregivers.<\/p>\n

\u00a03. Promoting mental and physical health, sports, physical activity, and a healthy lifestyle for caregivers.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0<\/strong>The Greek Carers Network EPIONI aims to achieve its goals by:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. By acting as a representative for caregivers and advocating for their rights.<\/p>\n

2. By conveying and translating the development of European policies concerning caregivers at the national and local levels.<\/p>\n

3. By participating in collaborations between cultural and creative sectors.<\/p>\n

EPIONI promotes initiatives targeted at both young and adult caregivers. It encourages education, participation, volunteer activities, mobility, and access to information for informal caregivers in Greece.<\/p>\n

It addresses individuals who, due to their role as caregivers, have increased needs for support and empowerment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u00a0From \u201c Epione<\/em>\u201d to EPIONI<\/strong><\/p>\n

The name Epione <\/em>has its roots in ancient Greek mythology. \u00a0Epione<\/em> was the wife of Asclepius, the god of medicine, symbolizing serenity, pain relief, and care\u2014concepts closely associated with the role of a caregiver.<\/p>\n

For reasons of euphony and recognition, we chose the uppercase form\u2014EPIONI<\/strong>\u2014to clearly and dynamically convey our organization\u2019s identity. In this way, the ancient meaning has been transformed into a modern name that carries depth, cultural value, and positive symbolism, reflecting our mission: to support informal caregivers and recognize their invaluable role in society.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
