On September 2, 2022, at 15:00, Epioni organized at Innovathens, a hub of innovation and entrepreneurship at Technopolis of the Municipality of Athens (100 Pireos St., Gazi), the 6th hybrid conference focusing on family caregivers.<\/p>\n

The event was under the auspices of the Prefecture of Attica, the Municipality of Athens, the Hellenic Psychiatric Society and is supported by the Eurocarers Federation.\u00a0 The event was organised in cooperation with the institutions:\u00a0 Obrela, EDRA \u2013 Social Cooperative Activities of Vulnerable Groups, PEPSAEE, Psychiatric Hospital of Attica, Hellenic Centre for Mental Health and Research, ENALMH, Panhellenic Federation of People with Multiple Sclerosis, 50+, Heart of the Child, Hellenic Society of Alzheimer\u2019s Disease and Related Disorders of Chalkida, Society of Social Psychiatry P. Sakellaropoulos, Society for the Protection of People with Autism \u2013 D.A.D. of Kastoria, Association of Families and Friends of Mental Health of N. Evros, Laboratory of Hygiene and Epidemiology of the Department of Public and Community Health of the University of West Attica, e-Health and Knowledge Management Unit \u2013 Institute of Informatics and Telecommunications of EKEFE Demokritos and Attica Reference Site (AHA4Attica) \u2013 Active & Healthy Ageing 4 Attica.<\/p>\n

Mr George Stamatis, Secretary General for Social Solidarity and Poverty Alleviation, Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, attended the event. In addition, important scientists participated such as Professor of Psychiatry Mr. George Christodoulou and Dr. Kelly Panagiotopoulou, who spoke on the contribution of caregivers to mental health.\u00a0 Marianna Paraskeva, former Senior Policy Officer of the European Commission, DG Employment, presented European policies on long-term care and independent living for people in need of assistance.
\nMs Noor Seghers from KU Leuven University mentioned good practices in supporting carers in Belgium. Finally, Mr Christos Prapas, Lecturer in Applications from the University of West Attica spoke on the importance of carers\u2019 support as a public and community health issue.<\/p>\n
