On April 3, 2023, Epioni organized an informative event entitled “Living with Autism – Good Practices for Adults with Autism” at Caf\u00e9 Myrtilo<\/a> in honor of World Autism Day. The focus was on the need for patients and their families to use modern technologies to have better support.<\/p>\n

The hybrid event was held with the support of the Laboratory of Hygiene and Epidemiology, Department of Public and Community Health, University of West Attica.<\/p>\n

The event hosted key scientists such as psychiatrist Stella Stathoulopoulou who gave a presentation on Autism in adults and applications of technology. Ms. Xenia Balli, Secretary of the Autism Society of Kastoria<\/a>, analyzed the relationship between people with autism and technology, which was a two-way relationship. Afterwards, Mr. Ioannis Koumbouros, Associate Professor at the University of West Attica talked about reading aids for the independent living of people with autism. Mrs. Irini Kladou, President of the Association of Parents and Friends of Autistic People of Rethymnon, and Mr. Pavlos Melissinos, Director of Parents and Friends of Autistic People of Rethymnon<\/a>, referred to the important issue of work integration of adults with autism and their training in modern technologies. Furthermore, Ms. Nephi Charalambous Darden, Autism Specialist from APIS<\/a>, presented “Autism, Inclusive Education and Assistive Technology”. Ms. Sophia Nikolaou, Special Educator and Ms. Eleni Dracopoulou, Developmental Psychologist from the Panhellenic Association of Adapted Activities ALMA<\/a>, referred to the Erasmus+ Inclusive Digital Academy (IDA)<\/a> projectand specifically to the empowerment of digital skills of adults with disabilities. In addition, Ms. Anastasia Varsamopoulou, Psychologist, Social Theologian and Specialist in Neurodevelopment, spoke about the INPP therapeutic programme, the rehabilitation of neuro-developmental deficits and learning difficulties of Asperger’s – Autism Syndrome. Finally, Mrs. Ariadne Dinou, Sociologist, talked about the IPAT<\/a> training programme for parents of children with Autism.<\/p>\n

The event was co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union in the framework of the projects Care4Autism<\/a> and ehealth4Autism.<\/p>\n
